Wow, surprised only one mention of the Christmas Story, and negative too. These suggestions are late but here is to Christmas 2010.
1. Last of the Summer Wine Christmas Episodes, BBC, Quite fun if you like Brit humour.
2. The Dead, 1987, Lionsgate, John Hustons adaption of James Joyce's short story has finally been released on DVD. Make sure you get the full 83 minute version there was a debacle before the holiday when the initial release was 73 minutes. It takes place on the evening of Old Christmas in Dublin 1904 at a holiday party.
3. The House Without a Christmas Tree, 1972 made for TV film starring Jason Robards.
4. A Christmas Memory, Emmy Award Winning 1966 made for TV movie starring Geraldine Page. Truman Capote narrates this story of a young boy and his disabled Aunt in the Depression era south. Criminally hard to find only available on VHS.
Not exactly Frosty, Rudolph, and Charlie Brown, but worth considering.

Emmett Otter's Jug-Band Christmas

It's my all-time favourite Christmas special. Though, I don't think that it gets aired on television anymore. Such a shame really. Here's the Muppet Wiki:
http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Emmet_Otter%27s_Jug-Band_Christmas

"When the River Meets the Sea" is such a great song. Adorable.

Of course, I can't go without saying that catching pretty much any Christmas special from my childhood is amazing. Home Alone tops the list.. I just love it when Kevin hits the bad guys in the faces with the paint cans! And of course How The Grinch Stole Christmas, though I love the original AND the Jim Carrey version. And I also love the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with Burl Ives. You can't beat Burl Ives. :)

one most often forgotten is Batman Returns. I was only reminded of it at work the other day during a battle to name the most obscure christmas movie titles.

While it doesn't have many of the staple themes that usually make a holiday movie, it packs a decent enough punch.

I definitely don't like Elf! Probably because I can't stand Will Ferrell. My boyfriend, on the other hand, LOVES this movie! Maybe I'll give it another chance this year..

My FAVORITE Christmas movies are The Grinch (original!), Prancer, and the Frosty movie with Tim Allen! Nobody has probably ever heard of Prancer it, but it's the sweetest story! Actually, I think I'll watch that tonight :)

Fun! I love Elf and The Holiday, as well. Love Actually always puts me in a warm and fuzzy Christmas mood. And I can miss the classics when they're on TV — Rudolph, Frosty & the Grinch!

I'm really impressed by all these suggestions. Some I had forgotten about, some I had overlooked as Christmas movies, and some I have never even heard of. Good work!

I love WHITE CHRISTMAS!!! All time favorite Christmas movie! I love it so much! I could probably quote the entire thing. I love music, dancing and of course, Bing Crosby.

I love all of the old claymations also and most of the Hallmark movies are good. I really liked their movie The Christmas Card.

One movie I try to avoid like the plague is A Christmas Story. Can't take it!
