ah lights. had this "issue" last night.

I have always liked a decorated, real tree at Christmas, it completes the mood. However, last night, the rage came as we decorated. Thankfully, it didn't last as long as it usually does, and I was able to go back to enjoying our Christmas tree. I'm sure next year, I'll only remember how awesome Christmas trees are an not a thing about how frustrating they are.

I love the net lights they make for christmas trees. They are triangle shaped and you just drape the net over the tree. Two nets should cover the whole tree, and the lights are very evenly distributed. The nets don't really knot up like regular strands either. It means I stay excited about decorating and not at all grumpy :)

OOOOH - I have a tip for the *rats nest* that is your christmas lights!
Hangers!
We bought a tree & lights off kijiji last year and the people had the lights all NEATLY organized wrapped around a hanger.
Wrap the lights on one hanger 'shoulder' then the other 'shoulder' kind of like a figure 8.
it really works and alleviates some of the grumbling when it comes time to straighten those buggers out!

Shannon, we got our "First Christmas" ornament at Pumpkin Village. They had a temporary location in Halifax Shopping Centre that year. I'm not sure if they still do it or not. I hear there's a custom ornaments kiosk set up in Mic Mac Mall outside of Zellers this year if anyone else is looking.

What if we purposely don't do it good enough so that we don't have to do it at all? Not that I've done that.... Actually, we both have a part to play putting the lights on our tree. Susan places them on the tree, and I hold the rats nest that is our lights and help her get them around the back of the tree.

I agree. The lights are the most stressful part. How did it end up that we are the ones in our households that put the lights on. Isn't that the mans job? I'll tell you how...they try but don't do it good enough!
You must not forget Susan, the endless hours of going from tree lot to tree lot with Mom harassing the poor, cold tree holders, looking for the perfect tree! Good times!

Love it - there's so much truth in Susan's post. In fact, I was so excited to put up our little mini Christmas tree (which is a fine size for me) that I had it up and decorated on November 1st . . . because it's only 4.5 feet tall, there's not a lot of time associated with decorating it, and so my frustration doesn't last very long because afterall, within five minutes, it's up!

However, this year, by December 1st, I was getting homesick and ready to take the ornament's off and pack up the tree . . . instead, I just tucked it into our guest room, with our presents underneath.

I LOVE your first Christmas ornament - where did you get it? Also love the grinch one! We only have two ornaments that were given to us - the rest we bought at Canadian Tire for cheap . . . our first Christmas ornament was from Beth & Jordan, and we have a starfish ornament from Peggy's Cove, which my Grandmother gave. I too, love nice ornaments - and I love the idea of adding one to your collection every year!

You guys rock!

haha, I'm in total agreement. Hubby claims to love a perfect tree, but his ornament distribution leads me to believe otherwise! I believe in spreading out like ornaments, and everything definitely has to hang freely!!

I will give him props for being pretty good at putting the lights on though. I don't even enter the room until he's done those bad boys.

We have that same Grinch ornament! Love it.
