One of my best valentines day memories was when I was dating this guy long distance, and I waited all day to hear from him, and didn’t. Just when I thought he forgot about valentines day all together, one-dozen red roses arrived at my door step:) I was definitely impressed.

One of my favourite memories of Valentine’s Day is from back in my poor-university-student days. My boyfriend filled a brown paper bag, that he had decorated, with a ton of valentines (just like in elementary school!) all with unique little notes. It must have taken him forever to write and I found it incredibly thoughtful.

honestly…usually valentine’s day is just another day…for me. It’s kinda sad. I guess the good news there is at least I don’t hate it. Hopefully someday I’ll have a significant other to share the day with but until then…it will always be just another day. But I like coffee and chocolate so I thought I’d enter anyway. LOL.

I used to work at a flower shop, and Valentine’s Day is probably one of the busiest days of the year. One year, after working an extremely long day, I came home to a romantic home cooked meal, cooked by my boyfriend. I really appreciated it, and felt so loved! I really like valentine’s day, cause it’s a day where you can show your appreciation to the ones you love and especially your friends and family.

I predict this year shall be the worst Valentine’s, as I’m scheduled to have my wisdom teeth out on the 12th. I’ve told my fiancee to not worry about presents as we’re paying for a wedding in June, and that trumps any holiday! =)
This upcoming Valentine’s Day will be the best ever. I say this because last Valentine’s with my boyfriend didn’t go that great because we had only been dating a few months and didn’t know what to expect from each other. This Valentine’s we know what each other expects (nothing fancy) and each other to love. Even though we’ll be spending the weekend with his parents! lol I forgot about that part.

My worst Valentine’s Day was in college…it was a sweet thought, but my roommate’s boyfriend took BOTH of us out for the day/night. Talk about third wheel! She was trying to be nice, but I could tell she was furious, and I don’t blame her!
Usually the Valentine’s Day excursions are planned by me for me, which makes Valentine’s Day much less romantic … not sure why? ha ha. This year, we’re saving our pennies to put towards debt and purchase property in the Maritimes, so we can eventually move from this flat, flat land (Alberta) and move back home! This year, we’ve decided that we’ll go to Swiss Chalet, share a double leg dinner, order a few sides and be in an out for $20. That’s a date on a budget, and for some reason, it’s far less stressful and much more exciting than the last few years when I felt we had to go all-out!! I anticipate a relaxed atmosphere, a nice meal, a happy hubby and happy me and money left in our pockets after Valentine’s Day! hehe :)
Lately I’ve been realizing that the emphasis really shouldn’t be on the amount of money you spend on things, but the time and thought that was spent on creating the memory or time together! I’m realizing that one of my most memorable Valentine’s Dates may have been 3 years ago when my boyfriend (now husband) drove from Moncton to Halifax in a snow storm just to surprise me and spend a few hours with me! Instead of the drive being 2.5 hours each way, it took him 4 hours just to get home! It took sacrifice, thought, didn’t have to be exuberant or costly but meant so much. :)
My worst Valentine’s was the one where my date took me to a fancy restaurant. Sounds nice right? Well, it was, until I couldn’t find my way back from the bathrooms and set off the fire alarm in the building by opening the wrong door in the hallway.
In all fairness to myself. To get to the bathrooms you had to exit into a stairwell with 6 floors on it. The bathrooms were at the bottom. I found them. However, coming back up proved to be an issue when none of the doors were labelled. So I just started trying them one by one.. Oops.. lol.

Wife And I Were in Domincan Replublic Last year for Vday and spent the day riding horses and enjoying the wonderful weather! Loved it. @Capersinc
My best valatines day was one where I was single and I didn’t have to worry about getting somthing for someone or feeling pressure at all to be all lovey dovey. Now happliy married that has changed but the pressure is off.

I’ll be the lame and cheesy one, but every Valentine’s Day with my wife is the best! She’s a rock star, and even if we don’t buy each other anything or do something fancy, we have a great time together. Last year, I wrote her a 3-page letter telling her everything I appreciate about her. She’s hung onto that longer than any trinket or piece of jewelry.
Following on Twitter as well, @gmazunik
10 points for Greg! (jk) Great stories everyone, keep them coming!
My best Valentine’s Day was when my roommate and her fiance actually made dinner for the girls of our apartment. It was so sweet because they decided to make us feel included in the “holiday.” Not to mention it was a delicious meal. Later my other roommate and I were able to make them dinner! YAY!
Other than that I try very hard not to celebrate Valentine’s Day because every day I get to spend with my fiance is special!

I could never have a bad Valentines Day as my youngest son was the first Valentines baby born in 1991..yes he’s about to be 19! OMG I can’t believe it! Garrett was born 2 minutes after midnight. The nurse accused me of “holding it in” LOL!
Having a birthday on Valentines day is the greatest as a kid growing up..it was always a party day at school and all the little cards he would bring home…well he thought that those were in celebration of his birthday not Valentines day..lol
The best part is…when I saw Garrett being born..I immediately saw his red hair..like his moms and decided there and then that he would be the last, now that I had my redhead…lol
The only difficult part of Valentines Day is finding birthday cards…it’s really next to impossible! I’ve only found one in 19 years.
Happy Valentines Day everyone and Happy Birthday to Garrett and all you other Valentines babies out there!
Two years ago when my bf and I were just waking up on Valentines day. We layed in bed for a while and I thought to myself “gee not even a card” I just waited for him to atleast say happy Valentines day but that wasn’t even coming out of his mouth! We lay a bit longer and then he says to me”Hun can get me a pair of socks and put them on me?” Being pissed already for him being a non-romantic ,I yelled at him saying no get them yourself! He wasn’t budging so I rolled over and went to get him a pair of socks out of the laundry basket and right under his socks was a small present in beautiful wrapping! I was shocked..I opened the box and found a beautiful ring!! I am some glad I didn’t freak out telling him I was pissed because he didn’t do anything romantic (like the last two years) hahah, gee I would of had alot of sucking up to do!! :) That day turned out to be awesome, and I love my ring!
Love you Tim XoXo
ps. He loves coffee and treats so now I need to do something nice for him ;)
My best Valentine’s Day came when my husband and I had just started dating. We were poor college students who were eight hours apart at the time, and he drove 8 hours to take me on a date! :-) So sweet.

My best Valentines day experience was getting engaged to my husband in 2001!
One of my best is when my mom went out of town for it but left me a surprise. She had written in a card for me and left a few bars of chocolate. It was sweet and unexpected.

For our first v-day together (14 years ago) hubby bought me a cookie bouquet & took me to dinner at the 360 resto at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto. I was 20 at the time & had never been to anything that fancy on a date before!

My worst Valentine’s Day memory was the year my partner was away on business on Valentine’s Day. He had planned to send my gift to work, until I called to tell him my grandfather had passed away! It was a sad holiday for me!

When I was in college I wrote on my whiteboard “Scott would like to apologize to all the ladies out there; he will not be your Valentine.” I got maybe 11 calls that night from girls (and one of their brothers) asking me to be their Valentine. I’m grinning just thinking about it.

Any Valentine’s Day with my wonderful husband is a good one!
best Valentine’s ever – my wife is a video game addict (had played wii with our nephew’s wii at Christmas endlessly) so two years ago I told her I’d do everything for Val Day but she had to trust me. so I took all the money we’d blow on dinner and movies and flowers and bought a used wii off of craigslist. we stayed home and played wii all night. it was so much fun and she loved it!
Would love to win this for my girlfriend. Thanks for this!
Our favourite Valentine’s are always spent in, relaxing together. Last year, we got a bunch of junk food and snuggled on the couch while watching the NBA All-Star game. Now that’s love :)
